The Fantasy Baseball Stat Tracker

Why Kilg.us?

Kilg.us was originally created as the Fantasy Baseball Stattracker. Little surprise, by the time it was created in April 2008, every domain name even remotely related to fantasy baseball or stattrackers had been bought up. As a free project, there was no budget to buy an expensive domain name, so the search began for an available name.

With no particularly interesting names available in the .com/.net/.org spaces, the idea arose to find a creative use of the .us domain. Thinking of a word ending in "us", Paul Kilgus' name immediately popped to mind!

But...Why?

I'm a Texas Rangers fan. My fandom actually began shortly after Paul's tenur with the team but with a massive collection of baseball cards, I was nonetheless familiar with the name. Despite only 2 years in a Rangers' uniform, Paul actually played a monumental role in Rangers history. In December of 1988, he was part of a package sent to the Cubs which returned Rafael Palmeiro among others. While his Rangers career may have been somewhat nondescript, he had a lasting impact on the organization. Just like that, the perfect name for the Fantasy Baseball Stat Tracker!
